For this Sharonville roof replacement, the homeowner chose to go beyond replacing the existing shingles. TruCraft completed a full tear-off and, at the homeowner’s request, replaced the roof decking before installing a complete Malarkey Legacy® dimensional shingle roofing system.
Starting with new decking provided a fresh foundation for the roofing system and gave the crew a clean, consistent surface for the layers that followed. Once the decking was installed, TruCraft added ice and water barrier and underlayment providing protection beneath the finished shingles.
Starter shingles, field shingles and ridge ventilation complete the roofing assembly. Each component serves a specific purpose in the roof’s performance.
Malarkey Legacy® in Antique Brown
The homeowner selected Malarkey Legacy® dimensional shingles in Antique Brown, a warm, variegated color that works especially well with the home’s brick exterior and dark garage doors. The variation within the shingles adds dimension to the home’s broad roof lines without overpowering the existing exterior.
Legacy® shingles are manufactured using Malarkey’s NEX® Polymer Modified Asphalt, which incorporates rubberized asphalt technology designed to improve flexibility, granule adhesion and impact performance.
The shingles also incorporate upcycled rubber and plastics along with smog-reducing granules. Those features give homeowners another consideration beyond appearance and weather protection when choosing a roofing material.
A Complete Roofing System from the Deck Up
The project photos offer a good look at something homeowners don’t normally see once a roof replacement is finished: everything underneath the shingles.
From the homeowner-requested decking replacement through the protective underlayment, starter shingles, ventilation and finished Malarkey Legacy® shingles, each layer contributes to the completed roofing system.
The result of this Sharonville roof replacement is a completely renewed roof assembly finished in Antique Brown, complimenting the home’s traditional brick exterior.
